The 2023 graduation ceremonies will take place at Alvin ISD Heritage Complex (10855 Iowa Colony Blvd., Iowa Colony, TX) and will be subject to the same clear bag regulations that are in place at Heritage for athletic events. Benjamin Odocha, a 4th grader at Sanchez Elementary, recently wrote a letter to Superintendent Nelson telling her that he knows how much she does for the district and expressed his desire to become her pen pal!
Today, Mrs. Nelson went above and beyond to make Benjamin's day extra special! She personally delivered a letter in response to his message! Benjamin was so excited!
Join us in sending a big round of applause to Benjamin for his courage in reaching out, and to Superintendent Nelson for going the extra mile to make a difference in this young student's life!

Congratulations to Iowa Colony HS’s Ashtyn Lewis for taking home the gold in the girls 400m, Manvel HS’s Sammy Haynes for placing 1st in the 100m, and the gold medal winning Shadow Creek HS’s 4x400m girls relay team of Madyson Thurmond, Nia Parks, Tiffany Mugubi, and Mackenzie Collins.

Tonight, five new assistant principals were approved by the board! Their campuses are TBD but they will do great wherever they go! Congratulations to Alana Adame, Justine Blackwell, Jacob Chavarria, Nallely Hernandez, and Jacqueline Butteris!
Alvin ISD is proud to honor one of its long-serving bus drivers, Peggy Worrell, who has been driving an Alvin ISD school bus for 40 years. Ms. Worrell has been named Transportation Employee of the Year in recognition of her dedication and service to the district.
Ms. Worrell began her career as a bus driver for Alvin ISD in 1981 and has been transporting students to and from school ever since. She has become a beloved member of the district's transportation team.
"Peggy is an inspiration to all of us," said Greg Bingham, Alvin ISD’s Director of Transportation. "Her unwavering dedication to our students and her colleagues is remarkable, and we are proud to honor her as our Transportation Employee of the Year."
Ms. Worrell drives a special education bus and her commitment to her job is evident in the way she interacts with her students. She greets each one with a smile and goes out of her way to make their journey to school a positive experience.
"I love my job and I love the students," said Worrell. "I feel blessed to be able to do what I do every day."
Ms. Worrell will be recognized at the Alvin ISD Employee Recognition Ceremony held on May 11.
Thank you to the Pearland Chamber of Commerce for sponsoring the Brazoria County Civics Bee. Out of 70 submitted essays from across Brazoria County, the top 20 finalist were from Alvin ISD. Congratulations to everyone including the top 3 winners, Nathan Lackey, Caleb Wesley, Meaghan Mooney.
