Alvin ISD powerlifters made a powerful statement at the state level this March, highlighted by two state champions from Alvin High School at the THSPA and THSWPA State Powerlifting Championships.

Jacob Baez and Alondra Acuna each earned the title of State Champion, showcasing exceptional strength, discipline, and dedication on the biggest stage.

The boys teams competed at the THSPA State Powerlifting Championships on Saturday, March 28 at the Taylor Expo Center in Abilene, while the girls teams took part in the THSWPA State Powerlifting Meet on Wednesday, March 12 in Edinburg.

Alvin High School

Coach: Joseph Casas

Alvin High School led the district with an outstanding overall performance.

Boys Highlights:

  • Jacob BaezState Champion (2-time state qualifier)

  • Cameron Fobbs – 4th place medalist

  • Jaren Casas – 4th place medalist (2-time state qualifier)

  • William Worthington – 7th place

  • Michael Meester – 8th place

  • Jayden Sok – 10th place

  • State qualifiers: Trace Martinez, Ethan McCormick, Ashton Dean

Girls Highlights:

  • Tina Truong – 4th place

  • Haylea Richardson – 7th place

The Alvin High School girls team placed 7th out of 49 teams, marking an impressive finish at the state level.

Shadow Creek High School

Iowa Colony High School

  • Noah Smith represented Iowa Colony at the state meet.

Manvel High School

  • Kelly Huynh – 4th place

  • Lekshmi Kadamankunnel-Renjith – 9th place
