Vet Tech Students Wash a Dog
Something the Brag About

We’re honored to share that Alvin ISD was one of only a dozen districts from across the state chosen to be featured in Texas School Business magazine’s 19th Annual Bragging Rights 2025–26 issue!

Each year, Bragging Rights highlights a select group of Texas school districts whose innovative programs are making a meaningful difference for students, schools, and communities across the state.

JB Hensler College and Career Academy's Veterinary Tech program was spotlighted for the incredible real-world opportunities it provides to students. Through partnerships with local veterinary clinics, Alvin ISD students gain hands-on experience, industry knowledge, and valuable job skills that prepare them for future careers in animal science and beyond.

“Our students gain industry-based certifications, have great mentorships and work with 15 different clinics and hospitals,” Superintendent Carol Nelson says in the article. “We want to get as many students [who are interested] to have the opportunity. After graduation, with this program, students can go right in and get a job.”

This recognition reflects Alvin ISD’s dedication to providing each student with unique opportunities to thrive every day and showcases the powerful impact community partnerships can have on students’ present and future success.
