Alvin ISD has once again been honored for its outstanding financial practices, receiving the Certificate of Excellence in Financial Reporting from the Association of School Business Officials (ASBO) International. This recognition is for the district’s Annual Comprehensive Financial Report for the fiscal year ending June 30, 2024.

This marks the twelfth consecutive year Alvin ISD has received this accolade, a testament to its commitment to fiscal responsibility and financial transparency.

Superintendent Carol Nelson commended the diligent work of our team, stating, “Sound financial planning is the backbone of our ability to provide high-quality programs for students and competitive compensation for our staff. I’m proud of our team’s continued excellence in managing public funds that align to our high educational standards.”

Chief Financial Officer Daniel Combs attributed the achievement to strong teamwork and strategic foresight. “This award reflects a district-wide commitment to responsible budgeting and thoughtful planning,” he said. “Our financial decisions are guided by a focus on student success and alignment with long-term district goals.”

Combs also noted that Alvin ISD has earned ASBO’s Meritorious Budget Award every year since 2013, reinforcing the district’s legacy of financial stewardship.
