Alvin ISD is excited to announce the opening of one new campus and one renovated campus this fall as part of its ongoing commitment to providing exceptional educational facilities for its students.
These developments are made possible through the successful implementation of the Alvin ISD Bond Program, approved by the community in November 2018, which allocated $480 million to enhance and construct Alvin ISD schools.
One of the notable projects is the renovation and expansion of Grace Ward Harby Junior High. Following an extensive 24-month construction period, the Harby Junior High Hawks will be welcomed to their state-of-the-art campus in August. The renovated campus now boasts modern amenities similar to other Alvin ISD junior high schools. Students can look forward to an impressive array of enhancements, including a cutting-edge library, a new performance stage, flexible learning areas, and improved safety and security measures. Sidewalk connections to the surrounding neighborhoods, a turn lane and driveway stacking area to improve traffic flow for parent pick up were also added.
To commemorate this significant milestone, a Dedication Ceremony will be held at the campus on August 31, 2023, at 5:30 pm. Members of the community, students, and faculty are invited to join in the celebration of this remarkable achievement.
In addition to Harby Junior High, Alvin ISD is proud to announce the opening of Delbra Orum Nichols-Wilma Fountain Mock Elementary. Construction for Nichols-Mock Elementary commenced in February 2022, and the campus has been thoughtfully designed to provide a well-balanced elementary learning environment prioritizing safety and security. Students at Nichols-Mock Elementary will also enjoy an upgraded fall-safe playground surface, a new kitchen facility, and a well-designed traffic flow system.
Located at 10805 Crystal View Drive in Rosharon, Nichols-Mock Elementary has a student capacity of 800. The dedication ceremony for Nichols-Mock Elementary is scheduled for September 17 at 2:00 pm, and the Alvin ISD community is invited to attend and witness the official opening of this remarkable new facility.
