Substituting in Alvin ISD

Thank you for your interest in substitute employment with Alvin Independent School District. Your contribution to the educational programs of Alvin ISD is important. The administration, the teachers and the students appreciate your professional service to our schools.

New hire substitute applications will be processed in monthly cohorts throughout the school year. The Substitute Orientation date will be posted on the substitute page at the beginning of each month. Interested individuals are encouraged to complete an applicaton online when the postion is open.

All new substitutes to the District are required to attend an orientation. The orientation is a time for the district to meet you and discuss Alvin ISD policies and expectations.

Wednesday, September 24, 2025 (9-11:00am)

Application Instructions:

Applicants must apply through the online Applitrack Substitute Job Posting while the posting is open. This can be found HERE and on the Alvin ISD webpage. Click on Careers at the top of the main page and then click on Apply Online. You must attach diplomas/GED, transcripts and certifications in order for application to be considered complete.

Hiring Process:

Once an application is submitted, applicants will receive an email confirmation from Frontline confirming submission.
Applicants will be contacted via email from the Substitute Specialist with next steps and the requirements needed to complete the substitute hiring process.

NOTE: The first 40 applicants with a complete application for the substitute position each month will be given the first opportunity to continue the substitute hiring process and attend an orientation.

Substitute Presentation - Application and Orientations

Substitute Pay Rates

Clerical
Daily	$75 (1/2 day is $37.50)
Long Term	72% of paygrade (if more than $75 per day)

Teacher (Sub has >60 College Hours)
Daily	$85 (1/2 day is $42.50)
Long Term	$105 (1/2 day is $52.50)

Teacher (Sub has bachelors degree)
Daily	$95 (1/2 day is $47.50)
Long Term	$125 (1/2 day is $62.50)

Teacher (Sub has teaching certification)
Daily	$110 (1/2 day is $55)
Long Term	$160 (1/2 day is $80)
	Long-Term positions are more than 10 consecutive days in the same classroom for the same teacher, on the 11th day, the long term pay begins Substitutes that work more than 4.5 hours will be paid a full day*

Incentive Pay

When you work 15 full days each month, you'll earn:
-a monthly $300 bonus as a teacher's substitute.
-a monthly $200 bonus as a paraprofessional substitute.

With a limited number of days available in December, subs must work every day in December to earn that month's incentive.
