We are looking forward to celebrating our grandparents tomorrow at Duke!

1. What time is Grandparents Breakfast?
7:15 - 8:15 a.m.
Our cafeteria doors WILL NOT open until 7:15am.
2. Can I buy breakfast the day of if I did not purchase a ticket in advance?
Absolutely! You can either buy breakfast through our cafeteria line or bring your own!
If buying breakfast in the line, you will use your student's ID number to do so.
3. Where do I enter for Grandparents' Breakfast?
Everyone visiting for breakfast will enter through our cafeteria doors No adults will be checked in through the front office during the breakfast.
We encourage our families to utilize our parking lot to the west of our cafeteria for easy access to the building.
4. Do I need my ID to enter the building?
YES! ALL adults MUST have a state issued photo ID to enter our building! Your ID will be taken when you enter, and you will be given a visitors badge to wear during Grandparents Breakfast. For the safety of our students and staff, anyone without a proper photo ID will not be allowed into the building. Copies and/or photos of your photo ID will NOT be accepted.
5. Can I walk my student to class afterwards?
No, families may NOT walk with their students to class. However, we will have helpers that can escort our families and students to our campus bookfair in the library!
Book fair is so much fun! We had our first scavenger hunt winners and trivia winners. Students are also loving checking out books!
Students in Ms. Earley's class are busy doing their morning work!
Wear your college colors this Friday, August 30th.
Grandparents breakfast is September 6. We cannot wait to see you there and book fair will be open as well!
3-5 parent orientation is tomorrow.

All summer reading logs are due today. You can drop them off in the office or email them to Ms. Breed.
We had a great first day at Duke Elementary! Go Bulldogs!
Third grade students are working on rules and procedures.
Kinder students went on a rotation today at the library students got to hear a book and do a steam activity.
Students in Pre-K were ready to start the day today!
Parents got to stop by for Coffee and Kleenex today. They got to hear about how our school works and ask any questions.
Day 1: One more day until school starts! Classes begin at 8:00 am tomorrow! The doors will open at 7:15am. Share your first day of school pictures on social media and use the hashtags #firstday2024 #countdown2024
Summer reading logs are due Friday, August 16, 2024. Pick up your copy in the office if you cannot find yours.
Day 2: Attendance matters. Let's work together to develop strong attendance habits. Did you know you can monitor your child's attendance by logging in to Skyward?? We are here to prepare your child for future success.

Day 3: Will your child eat a meal from the cafeteria? If so, there are 3 options for school meals: (1) students may pay for meals, (2) bring a lunch from home, or (3) apply for free or reduced meals at this link. https://www.alvinisd.net/o/aisd/page/child-nutrition
The best way to purchase meals (and additional food items/snacks) is to use the School Cafe. Set up your student's account online. If you have any questions, the office can assist you.
