Girls Athletics

Lady Mustang Athletics

Welcome to Lady Mustang Athletics and the 2025-2026 school year! Please use this information as a guide throughout the year. Should you have any questions or concerns, feel free to contact a coach for clarification. We look forward to a great year!

Practice - All Volleyball will practice before school 6:30am-8:00am. All Girls Basketball teams will practice before school 6:30am-8:00am. Swimming practice will be before school while Tennis, Track, and Soccer teams will practice after school.

Game Days – All Volleyball and Basketball games will be played on Thursdays. The “B” teams will play at 5:00pm and the “A” teams will play at 6:00pm. Both sports will have weekend tournaments. Departure and approximate arrival times will be announced in advance. Players and Managers must ride the bus to and from an athletic event unless PRIOR arrangements have been made in writing. This must be a “special” circumstance. A low fat, nutritious snack is recommended before the game. No FAST FOOD or SODAS please!

Missed Practice or Game – the athlete will have extra conditioning for every practice/game missed to make up for the conditioning missed. It is the athlete’s responsibility to make sure a PARENT communicates with her coach – in advance if possible. A PARENT can email, call, or write a note to her coach if she is unable to attend practice or a game. The conditioning will double if no attempt at communication has been made when returning to practice. Athletes must attend school at least ½ the school day to be eligible to play in an athletic contest that evening. Any unserved discipline for athletic purposes must also be made up prior to being eligible to play.

Finish What You Start – Your class grade in Athletics will drop significantly if you quit any sport.

Eligibility – Grades will be checked every 3 weeks. While a 70 is a passing grade for eligibility purposes, our girls are expected to maintain an 80 average in all classes. Anything below an 80 or failing (69 or below), the athlete will be placed on our Academic Improvement List, complete conditioning consequences, and coaches will closely monitor these students’ grades looking to find ways to help them improve. Any athlete can be removed from athletics for continual academic ineligibility!

Lockers – Every girl is issued a locker in the locker room, and we expect them to keep all athletic and personal belongings locked up. They are to use their own locker, not someone else’s. Coaches are not responsible for lost or stolen items.

Clothes – Each athlete will be issued workout clothes and expected to keep them clean and to have them every day in class and practice. Five points will be deducted from the student’s dressing grade each time the clothes are not worn. A fine will be assessed for lost or damaged clothing. Athletes are not allowed to wear these clothes during the school day or out in public.

Policies Regarding Athletic Injuries – (District Policy) – Doctor notes or a note from the AHS Athletic Trainer are the only notes we will accept for sitting out from athletics. No parent notes will be accepted. All athletes will still dress out during practice and the athletic period. Muscle soreness and fatigue are not injuries. Athletes will be pushed to learn the difference between pain and injury without jeopardizing the safety of the athlete.

Jewelry – Athletes are not allowed to wear any jewelry in the athletics class, in practice, or in games. Officials won’t allow the athlete to place tape over earrings, so please DO NOT get any new piercings.
