In Alvin ISD - we're proud to boast some of the best athletes in the area, state and country. But beyond being talented in their sports, we're even more proud that our AISD athletes are known in their communities as respectful students, volunteers and leaders.
To recognize them for their achievements on the field and off, we're rolling out the red carpet (literally), for the inaugural AIMS Awards.
Similar to award shows like the ESPYs and Oscars, the AIMS (Alvin, Iowa Colony, Manvel and Shadow Creek) Awards will shine a light on our student athletes from each sport who have been chosen to represent their campus for the way they uphold the four pillars of AISD Athletics: integrity, servant leadership, commitment and culture.
"The AIMS Awards give the district an opportunity to celebrate the success of our student-athletes on the field, in the classroom, and in their communities," Associate Athletic Director Carla Newsom said. "We are very proud of our kids and want to let them know how much we appreciate their commitment not only to their teams, but to being role models and leaders.
The finalists for each sports, as well as for the Beyond the Game, Comeback Athlete of the Year and Hand and Hand awards have been chosen and you'll see their campuses and AISD Athletics spotlighting them on social media over the next few weeks.
It'll all culminate in the award's ceremony on May 13 at the AISD Alumni Hall at Freedom Field.
