On January 13, 2026, the Alvin ISD Board of Trustees approved the 2026-2027 Academic Calendar.

Important Dates for Staff:
First-year teachers will begin on July 29, followed by all new-to-the-district teachers on July 30, and then all returning teachers starting on August 3.
Important Dates for Students:
Transition students (Pre-K, Kindergarten, 6th grade, and 9th grade) will return to school on Wednesday, August 12, with all other students starting on Thursday, August 13.
Key Features of the Calendar:
A Fall Break October 12 - 16, aligning with the Brazoria County Fair
Spring Break occurring the 2nd week in March (March 8-12)
Last day of school for students is May 27, 2027.
Graduation dates for each high school are as follows:
Shadow Creek High School – May 24, 2027 at Freedom Field
Iowa Colony High School – May 25, 2027 at Freedom Field
Manvel High School – May 26, 2027 at Freedom Field
RISE Academy – May 27, 2027 at Alvin HS PAC
Alvin High School – May 27, 2027 at Freedom Field
The calendar was developed by the District Education Improvement Committee, a team of parents, community members, and Alvin ISD teachers. This group carefully considered state requirements, students’ instructional needs, feedback from parents and staff, and the needs of the local community and businesses while crafting the calendar.
