Alvin ISD Board President AJ Johnson has graduated from the prestigious Leadership TASB Class of 2026, earning the designation of Master Trustee from the Texas Association of School Boards.
Johnson was among 32 school board members from across Texas selected to participate in the yearlong leadership development program, widely recognized as the premier trustee leadership training program in the state. The program is designed to strengthen board governance, advocacy, and leadership skills while connecting trustees to public school districts and communities throughout Texas.
The Leadership TASB Class of 2026 celebrated its graduation on June 19 during TASB's Summer Leadership Institute in Fort Worth. Since its founding in 1990, more than 1,000 trustees have completed the program.
Throughout the year, Johnson joined fellow trustees in visiting school districts across Texas to learn firsthand about innovative practices, district leadership, student achievement, and community engagement. The cohort's journey included visits to Lamar CISD and Royal ISD in the Houston area, Lyford CISD and Brownsville ISD in the Rio Grande Valley, Amarillo ISD and Highland Park ISD in the Texas Panhandle, and Pleasant Grove ISD and Texarkana ISD in East Texas.
Participants also completed a capstone project and attended five required sessions as part of the program's rigorous curriculum.
The Master Trustee designation represents the highest level of achievement within the Leadership TASB program and reflects Johnson's dedication to continuous learning and effective school board leadership in service of Alvin ISD students, staff, and community.
