Alvin ISD High Schools Announce Class of 2019 Top Students

On April 12 the Alvin ISD Education Foundation visited Alvin High School, Manvel High School, Shadow Creek High School and ASSETS Academy to recognize the top 20 students of the Class of 2019 at all three high schools and ASSETS Academy.


Kelly Hestand, principal at Shadow Creek High School, announced the top twenty students for the Class of 2019. Valedictorian for the class is Najia Khan Sherwani  and Salam Habra is the Salutatorian. The following students hold the next 18 spots:  Audrey Naseem, Pakzaban Smith,  Lianne D'Souza, Abigail Lee Rader, Connor Stump, Geremi Alvarez, Jasmin Nassar, Henna Mehmood, Alan D. Anaya, Leah Vu, Elizabeth Ren, Malithy Wimalasooriya, Gena Lee, Shannon Chacko Puliyampallil, Katrina Isabelle M. Uang, Kelvin Kafui Doe, Naif Bhuiyan, Maren Tonini, and Brian Phan-Tran.


Dr. Bobby Martinez, principal of Manvel High School, along with his counseling staff announced that the following students are the top twenty students in the Class of 2019 at Manvel High School: Valedictorian is Hannah M. Kennon and the Salutatorian is Bruno Onwekwe while  Isabella Padilla, Victoria Vu, Rosalie Read, Cara Maxwell, Denali Klein, Genny Effler, Anahi Altamarino, Mollie Bahuta, Ashley Jackson, Thomas Jacob McClintic, Natalie Diaz, Tessa Williams, Zachary Meade, Chamile Diaz, Sandra Ortiz, Michaela Kaspar, Christopher Rangel, and Zachary Riha make up the remaining top twenty students.


Dr. Johnny Briseno, principal of Alvin High School, along with his counseling staff, announced the names of the top twenty students.  Valedictorian for the Alvin High School Class of 2019 is Tobechukwu Phillip, while Hadlee Morris holds the honor of Salutatorian. The following students fill the remainder of the top twenty spots: Jessica Anne Hogan, Jaime Louise Hogan,  Erica Gonzalez,  Andrew Thomas Talley, Madison Ayres, Emmanuel Alonso Castillo. Gustavo Garcia, Haley Gaddy, Tiffany Danielle Purl, Susana Hernandez, Monserrath Castillo, Madeline Doyle, Ingrid Ayala Macias,  Rhiannon Navarro, Emma Metcalf, Cheyenne Slaughter, Adam Gonzales, and Michael Fontenot II.


The top two students at ASSETS Academy were announced by Principal Beth Lawson. Caitlyn Evans is the 2019 valedictorian, while Corah "Hope" Munoz  is the salutatorian for the academy.


The Alvin ISD Education Foundation will honor these 62 students at the annual Celebration of Academic Excellence on Monday, May 21. Each student will have their most influential teacher as their guest. "This special evening enables the Alvin ISD Education Foundation to celebrate our outstanding teachers and students,” said Sheila Olson, Executiver Director of the Foundation. Sponsorship opportunities are available for the celebration. “We hope to have every table sponsored,” Olson added.
