On April 2-4, the Alvin High School Winterguard travelled to Dayton, OH for the Winterguard International where groups from all over the world came to compete. This is the first time in the history of Alvin ISD that a winterguard has ever made it that far. Alvin HS competed in the preliminary contest against 143 other school and was one of 64 groups to advanced to the semi-finals. The top 20 made it to the Finals. Unfortunately, they fell a little bit short as they ended their season 23rd, 3 spots out of finals by .4 points. “It was an incredible experience for myself as a director and for the students who got to see the absolute BEST in the world at the activity,” shared Alvin HS Winterguard Director Maurice Wright.
