Meridiana Elementary SSTAR Club presented blankets and water to the Ronald McDonald House
The Meridiana Elementary SSTAR Club recently took part in a service project for the community. On Saturday, February 16, members of the club presented Welcome Blankets and cases of water to the Ronald McDonald House in the Houston Medical Center.
“These blankets are very comforting to children, especially when they are in a treatment that keeps them in the hospital or in the Ronald McDonald House for weeks and sometimes months,” said Edith Zaragoza, Meridiana counselor and SSTAR Club sponsor.
The SSTAR Club stands for Students Showing Tolerance And Respect. Meridiana Elementary started the SSTAR Club to create a positive climate and bully free zone at their campus. This club is open to all 3rd- 5thgrade students and currently has 50 members. The SSTAR club meets every Friday at 7:30 a.m. Students learn about bullying and how they can be upstanding citizens in their school.
