Welcome to Shadowcreek HS 2022-23. We are so excited to have you here. I want to take this time to introduce myself. My name is Safia Khatri. I am teaching Medical terminology and Medical Microbiology this year at Shadowcreek HS. I taught Chemistry, Physics, Anatomy and Physiology and Forensic Science at Houston ISD and Fortbend ISD previously. 

I consider myself a lifelong learner. The best part of learning is that it improves our wisdom and allows us to understand new things every day and every moment of our life; it is a continuous process which enables us to teach and learn from each other's lives, irrespective of race, age or gender. Sometimes we learn from our students and kids.I was born and raised in Pakistan, where I learned the importance of memorization to achieving academic success. I then went to Germany to learn stem cell techniques for two months, which gave insight to a new method of teaching and learning that prioritized a good understanding of over straight memorization. I completed my Doctorate degree in Spain and completed my Post-doctoral fellowship at Baylor College of Medicine, where I discovered that creativity also plays a role in education. Throughout my research, I visited multiple European countries and even attended a seminar in the UK, where I started to notice the more minute details in educational styles, such as the way the educators greet their students or their response to more personal problems. I have visited several countries which gave me a vision of different education systems and learning ways, allowing me to see and experience the pros and cons of different teaching styles and forms, giving me the ability to create a method of teaching that is uniquely my own. 

My educational belief is that every student can be successful if he/she is equipped with the required support and resources. I live with this belief every day. My kids love my classes because I provide them with a safe learning environment to communicate and discuss what their learning needs are and strategies that can help them to be successful academically.
