Dear Mustangs,

I’m so excited for my second year at AJH  and 16th year in teaching! I’m a state-  certified reading specialist, and your campus  dyslexia specialist. I received my master’s at  the University of Houston, Clear Lake and  my undergraduate degree from UT Tyler.

As the first high school and college  graduate in my family, I am absolutely  dedicated to helping students find who they  are in the world through communication:  reading, writing and speaking.

I love exploring our world, swimming till I am water-logged and hanging out with my husband,  Corey, and kids, Asher (9) and Evy (5). I  READ books any way I can get them: kindle, paper or audio. Seriously.  #parentingwhilereading.

Expect to do a lot of reading, noticing,  thinking, writing and making each day. We will be a “3Text Class” meaning I will model, have you practice with short text and use the skills/techniques on reading of your choice.

This is your chance to learn about  what you are interested in as well as what  you never knew you never knew about.

I can’t wait to learn a lot about life and  the world from my students, and hope you  learn a lot in turn. Be prepared.
