Hello! I am so excited to join Nolan Ryan Junior High this year!! My name is Nicole Martinez, I am the wife of my wonderful husband Jerry Martinez. We have been married fifteen wonderful years and have three beautiful children. My oldest is an eighth grader at Alvin junior high, I have another son that is going into 6th grade , and I have a baby girl who is going into fourth grade. I have always loved working with students. I discovered my love for working with students with special needs when I was substituting in Alvin six years ago. I immediately began working to get where I am today by enrolling at Alvin Community College. When I got my first job as a paraprofessional in a fundamentals class at Wilder, I knew that I found exactly what my calling was. Having my own child that needs special education, along with a niece in fundamentals, I learned the importance of being a teacher that believed in students and their abilities, rather than focus on their disabilities. I also learned the importance of helping parents find their voice for their children. I believe that all children can learn when we think outside of the box, and that the best way to make that happen is to build connections and positive relationships with students and their families. This is my second year as a certified teacher, but I have been learning all I could along side other amazing teachers throughout my entire journey. Learning is a lifelong adventure, and I am excited about going on this adventure with my fellow NRJH longhorns!
