My name is Michael Powell.  I am one of the 8th Grade Writing and APA Writing teachers.  I recieved my Bachelor's Degree in 7-12 Language Arts from University of Houston - Clear Lake in December of 2019.  With that said, this is my third year teaching and I love being a part of the Nolan Ryan Junior High team.  

This is my third career.  In the early 90's, I was a certified Peace Officer, working at Brazoria Co. Sheriff's Department.  In 1994, I decided that the Air Force was the place for me, and made the decision to enlist as an active duty Airman, with an Air Force Specialty of Munitions Systems Technician. I retired from the Air Force in 2014 and started my educational experience.  First at College of the Mainland for my Associate's Degree and then moving on to UHCL.  

When not at school, my wife, Melissa,  and I enjoy going to live theatre, seeing movies, and being together.  In my free time, I enjoy fishing, hunting, reading, cooking and wood working.
