Mrs. Beth Young

Mrs. Young is a former Texas state, national, and world champion baton twirler, and has choreographed and taught color guard for over 30 years. She began her teaching career in color guard as the Director of both the Color Guard and the Dance Line with the Fresno State Bulldog Marching Band in Fresno, CA.  During the ‘90s, she also taught and choreographed for several high school guard units in California’s Central Valley.

In 2008, she moved her family to Texas and they settled in the Houston area.  She helped open the doors at George Ranch High School when it opened in 2010, and built the guard program there from the ground up.  In the 10 years she was at George Ranch, she developed that program into a recognized and award winning National A Scholastic program.  Beth also raised the standard of the Foster High School guard in the two short years that she was the director, seeing that guard get promoted to the National A class and claiming a third place finish at the 2020 WGI Houston Regional this past winter.

Beth is active in the local TCGC Circuit.  She has served on the reclassification committee and is currently an appointed member of the TCGC Color Guard Task Force.  She was presented with the TCGC Director of the Year award in 2017. She is currently the Color Guard Caption Head with Compass Drum & Bugle Corps, and designs and choreographs for several scholastic programs across the country.

Beth has been married to Randy Young for over 26 years, and knew it was love at first sight when they met on the marching field during summer band practice at Fresno State University.  Together they have raised three children (Christian, Matthew, and Sarah) that have all shared their love of music and marching.
