Mrs. Alexis Johnson
I am originally from the Bay Area, California but spent a great portion of my adult life living in Brooklyn, New York. I began teaching in 2008 at a bilingual transitional high school for Latino newcomers. I absolutely loved working with my students as they had the opportunity to learn Global history in their native language, Spanish, within my classroom. I taught a combination of Humanities (Global History and native language arts Spanish) and Spanish Native Language Arts to ninth and tenth graders at the same school until I moved to Houston, TX nine years later. Upon relocating to Houston, I worked as a 2nd grade dual language (Spanish) teacher for all subjects at a dual language charter school. I love language learning and language education and believe children, as well as adults, are capable of language learning if placed in the proper context.
