Degrees and Certifications:
Welcome to the 2020-2021 school year at Walt Disney Elementary!
This is my 17th year as an elementary and special education teacher, my 4th year in Alvin ISD, and my 2nd year as a part of the wonderful Walt Disney family. I grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from the University of North Texas in December 2003. After graduation, I began my teaching career as a PPCD teacher for 2 years in the same school district I grew up attending. I moved to Houston area in the summer of 2006 and continued teaching PPCD in Clear Creek ISD for 7 years. In 2012, I helped pilot a program for students in Clear Creek ISD with autism and language disorders. I taught in the autism program 4 years before moving to Alvin ISD and working in an elementary behavior program for 2 years. Last year was my first year at Walt Disney Elementary, and I feel truly blessed to be a Wildcat again this year!
My favorite part of being a teacher is developing relationships with my students and having the opportunity to be one of their biggest cheerleaders as they grow and learn!
When I am not teaching, I love my spending time with my amazing husband, my 3 wonderful step-children, our 2 spoiled dogs, and our princess of a cat. I enjoy outdoor activities, learning to garden, being on or by the water, reading, exercising, and doing my part to try and spread kindness and love to others.
I believe in strong communication between home and school and partnering with one another to help your child succeed. Please feel free to contact me at any time if you have questions, concerns, have information you feel would be important for me to know, or would like additional resources/ideas to use with your child.
