Welcome to the 2022-2023 school year at Walt Disney Elementary!

This is my 19th year as an elementary and special education teacher, my 6th year in Alvin ISD, and my 4th year as part of the wonderful Walt Disney Wildcat family. I grew up in Dallas, TX and graduated from the University of North Texas in December 2003. After graduation, I began my teaching career as a PPCD teacher for 2 years in Lewisville ISD, the same school district I grew up attending. I moved to the Houston area in the summer of 2006 and continued teaching PPCD in Clear Creek ISD for 5 years. In 2011, I helped pilot a program for students with autism and severe language and behavior disorders. I continued teaching in the autism program for 5 more years before moving to Alvin ISD in 2017 to teach in an elementary special education behavior program. I spent my first 2 years at Walt Disney Elementary teaching Special Education Resource and Inclusion. Last year, I entered a newly created position within the district as the Walt Disney campus behavior coach. I am excited about continuing that position again this year, as well as being the Special Education Department Chair for our campus. Creating strong relationships within the classroom has always been a passion and cornerstone of my teaching over the years. I am excited to share that passion, along with ideas, strategies, and resources, with our Walt Disney staff, students, and parents!

My favorite part of being a teacher is developing relationships with my students and having the opportunity to be one of their biggest cheerleaders as they grow and learn!

"No significant learning occurs without a significant relationship."  -Dr. James Comer

When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my amazing husband, my 3 wonderful step-children, our 2 spoiled dogs, and my incredibly supportive family. I enjoy outdoor activities, learning to garden, being on or by the water, reading, exercising, and doing my part to try and spread kindness and love to others.
