    Woodson's Brief Bio
Christian Wife - mother of two daughters - proud parent of  Angleton High School & Alvin High School Graduates!
Lifelong learner and advocate for children of all ages
By way of basketball scholarship, I graduated from Stephen F. Austin State University with a BA in Communication/Business. There, under the tutelage of National Championship coach Gary Blair, my Ladyjack teammates and I revived the Program from the second worst team in the Nation (Sports Illustrated 1984) to our peak National rank of 11 in most polls (1988). The subsequent summer of my junior year, I played with Athletes in Action's European tour team. We toured Germany, Switzerland, Austria and Yugoslavia playing basketball and witnessing for Christ during halftime and after games.

My next venture allowed me to play basketball in the professional arena throughout Europe, South America and the Middle East. In 1999, severe knee injury forced my early retirement. After marriage and the birth of my two daughters, I headed back to school to earn my Secondary Mathematics Teaching Certification from the University of Houston Clear Lake (2002) and a Masters in Mathematics from Western Governors University(2010).

June of 2006 a diagnosis of a very rare form of breast cancer put my family’s lives in a holding pattern. Numerous surgeries, procedures, chemo, radiation through the Grace of God rendered me cancer free as of March 30, 2017!

In 24 years, I have taught various maths to students pre-K through adult. Presently at ASSETS Academy (high school), we help at-risk and economically disadvantaged students make positive choices for their futures in order to become productive citizens. My experience also includes serving as a certified Kumon Instructor where I taught preschool through adult math and reading. Other teaching opportunities include serving on State testing review panels, Master Teacher grading committees, District curriculum writing, and presenting to new teachers at State math conferences. This profession has afforded me opportunities to develop skills in a variety of venues, interact with all ages, genders and socio-economic levels within diverse communities, as well as network with local, state and national peers and policymakers.

Thank you for those of you who have provided assistance and continue to pray for me and my family as we continue to recover from Hurricane Harvey. We have been displaced since August 29, 2017. Lord willing we will be back in our home by September 1, 2018.
