Mr. Adam Hopson
Greetings! Welcome to my homepage. My name is Adam Hopson and I am a World History and Economics teacher at Shadow Creek High School. This will be my first year at Shadow Creek High School. I am coming over from Pearland ISD where I taught for a couple of years and where I had the amazing opporunity to teach Economics, Government, World Geography, and World History. I love teaching these subjects because these are the courses where students learn who we are, where we come from, and where we can go in the future; not to mention, courses like Economics presents students with new ways to see and think about the world they are not, typically, accustomed to; I enjoy being a part of that discovery process with them!
I was born in Knoxville, Tennessee (GO VOLS!!!!) but grew up here in Houston. I graduated from Clear Lake High school where I ran varsity track & field (sprints) and participated in the JROTC program. After graduation, I joined the United States Marine Corps where I served four years of active duty and deployed to Iraq in support of OIF. When my active duty service was over, I came back to Houston and began working at NASA as an admin while also beginning my college career. I graduated from the University of Houston (GO COOGS!!!!!) with a BS in Political Science and a minor in Economics. I have been married for 8 years and I have a beautiful 4 year old daughter who loves to visit my school and see "THE big kids."
My hobbies include:
Spending time with my family
Watching college football
Watching motorcycle races (missing my days on the track...)
Triathlons (swimming, biking, and running)
Being really bad at eating vegetables
Being a casual observer of politcs and economics
I look forward to the new school year and I am thankful to finally be a part of the SHARK NATION!
