I am Jessica Shawver and I am excited to be an Environmental Systems and Astronomy teacher at Shadow Creek High School this year! I am passionate about education and working towards creating life long learners in my classroom. I am the proudest member of the Fighting Texas Aggie class of 2010, where I majored in Wildlife sciences. I also graduated from Lamar University in 2017 with a masters of Education in School Counseling. I will be starting my 7th year teaching this year. I encourage questions and exploration and yes in science you don't always get it right, that is how new discoveries are made and quite often also the best learning. Science is about the process and doing, science cannot just be learned with a textbook and pencil. I have 3 kids of my own the oldest is a 2nd grader in Alvin ISD and I also have a 4 year old and a 2 year old, so this district and education is very important to me as it is the world my children will be in as well. Outdoor activities are my favorite, especially now that I have children that stare at it in absolute wonder as they explore. In science you need to " Take chances, make mistakes, and get messy" -- Ms. Frizzle the magic school bus. And though I do not have a bus that flies and shrinks (if anyone finds one please let me know as I am in the market for one). I do aim to have movement, mistakes, and doing in my room reguraly.
