    ***In the 2017/2018 School Year our Intro to Culinary Arts and Culinary Arts Students who were in my classes helped Prepare and Served approximately 10,000 meals, over 1500 of those meals were for Staff and Students who were displaced during Hurricane Harvey. All parents should be Proud of this accomplishment.***
     
    Hello Alvin High School Culinary parents and students. I am Chef Mike Schuster. I have 30 plus years Culinary experience as a Chef. I am in my 4th year as a teacher. 2nd full year here at Alvin High School. I am a retired military veteran. I spent 25 years with the United States Coast Guard where I served as a Chief Food Service Specialist. When I retired in 2012 I decided to go to go college to earn a degree in culinary arts. I was able to earn a Bachelors Degree in Culinary Management in 2015 and an Associates Degree in Baking and Pastries in June 2017. I started my Master Degree in Executive Hospitality Management in January 2018 and will Graduate in Dec. 2018.
     
    I did take Commercial Cooking Classes like your students are taking now with me in 1985 while attending La Porte High School (Class of 1986). I actually lettered in Culinary Arts. Cooking and teaching culinary arts is a passion. I love what I do and am honored to teach the students who sit in front of me daily. While in HISD I did compete Nationally with my culinary students and hope to do the same with the students here at Alvin High School.
     
     
    I am a member of the Texas Chefs Association and the American Culinary Federation. I am a strong believer in networking and want to get my students jobs in the area. I recently moved to Alvin, but once settle in I will get out in the community to build business partnerships with local restaurants to get our students jobs and vital experience they need to become future chefs.

    All Culinary Arts Students are required to purchase Non Slip Oil Resistance Shoes.
