    About Me
Welcome to Nolan Ryan Junior High. My name is Mrs. Stephenie Tyner and I am proud to be a middle school math teacher of this school. NRJH has a long-standing reputation as a high-performing school with a focus on rigorous academics and is one of AISD’s top performing Schools.  I have been teaching since 2005.  I received my Bachelor of Science in middle school math from the University of Houston (Go Coogs!).  I have also obtained my certification to teach EC -6.  I have taught in FBISD, HISD, Baptist Private School and this is my second year at NRJH.  I am very excited to be a Longhorn and part of the Alvin Family!  I have a wonderful son whose name is Kelan and a beautiful baby girl name Devyn!   I am a die-hard teacher - my door is always open, you are welcome to come in for help!  I hope everyone has a wonderful year! GO Longhorns!!!!!!!!

In order to reach our goal, each student is expected to undertake certain responsibilities.  These responsibilities are as follows:

    *Have a pencil every day!
*Have a Planner to record daily agenda, upcoming tests or projects, and homework. Even though you will recieve a calendar and syllabus, things happen that cause us to get off course.  Using a planner is a life skill that will help you be successful!
*Have your Homework-practice makes permanent! Grades will be given for homework.  I don't expect you to always get it right but I do expect you to try and to practice what we have learned in class.  We will move at a fast pace in class and if you do not do your homework, you WILL get behind.
*Take care of Absent/Make up work! It is a good idea to have a "buddy" that you can contact when you are out.  You may be able to do the homework or you can get the materials from the make up work folders when you return.  You will need to come to tutorials to get missing notes and tutorials on the lesson you miss.
*Have a POSITIVE attitude!  Math is FUN and Challenging!  I will look forward each day to introducing you to new ideas and will be there to help you any way I can.
*Communicate with me! I am here for you!  If you find yourself struggling with something come see me so we can work through it.  You will have a permanent tutorial pass in your composition notebook so you can come in when you need to.
