Welcome to my website! My name is Kelsey Middleton. This will be my 3rd year at Manvel Junior High and my 7th year of teaching middle school. I moved to the Houston area from my home state of Idaho in 2013 to teach 6th graders in HISD, and I moved to Manvel in 2017 to pursue my dream of owning a small hobby farm. I graduated from the University of Idaho in 2013 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Secondary Education, and minors in English and Spanish. Additionally, I recently graduated from Lamar University with a Master of Education degree in Teacher Leadership.
I live in Manvel with my husband and our four dogs, two goats, and two horses- plus a cat, a bunny, and a couple of chickens. The farm takes up most of my free time, but I also enjoy going to the beach, reading new books, riding my horse, and exploring new places in Texas.
I am very excited to have your child in my classroom this year! I loved getting to know many of them last year as 6th graders, and I can’t wait to spend another wonderful year with them in 7th grade. Please feel free to contact me anytime with questions or concerns. I respond most quickly to email.
Classroom Resources:We use a lot of online resources in my classroom in order to improve our writing and prepare for high school and beyond. I always give students sufficient time to complete online assignments during the school day, but occasionally they will have work that needs to be completed on their own time. Because not every student has internet access at home, students are encouraged to utilize the school computer lab, or they can also set up a time to use our classroom computers before/after school.Students will use their school Google accounts to log in to the websites that we use. If they had me as a teacher last year for 6th grade, they should already have accounts set up for all of the websites that we will be using this year. To log in, students will need to be logged into their Google account. Their email is their 6-digit student ID number @students.alvinisd.net (EX: firstname.lastname@example.org) and their password is usually set in the library. When they get to these websites, they do not need to type out their email. Instead, they will just click "Log In With Google" and it should take them right into their account.
