    About Me

Welcome to Bob and Betty Nelson Elementary!

I am from Austin and this will be my 21st year to teach.   I graduated from the University of Texas at Austin, and then went to Texas State to work toward a masters in education.  Although I loved Texas State, my heart belongs to the LONGHORNS!!   I am a huge UT fan!  I started my teaching career in Austin before moving to this area.  I taught 5th grade there and then moved to the Friendswood area.  I have taught Math and Science in 3rd, 4th and 5th grade for 11 years here in Alvin ISD.  The beauty of teaching so many grade levels is that I know where the students are heading.  The years experience helps me to target the misconceptions that some students have when learning math.  I love the challenge!

This year I will be exploring a different path in teaching.  I am lucky enough to be our math resource teacher!  What a great way to share what I've learned when teaching my students!  I think this is the perfect role for me, as I have experience in several grade levels.

At home, I have two sons.  One will be a junior and the other will be senior this year!  Time flies!  They keep me very busy and brighten my world.  This being said, I can definitely relate to the ups and downs of parenting!  Best advice I can give, is to cherish each and every moment with your children.  Although it is cliche, it is true.... they grow up so fast.  Before you know it, you will be ordering the cap and gown!

I can't wait to begin working with all of you!

Lets work together to make this a fabulous year!
