I am the daughter of a Shell Chemical manager, so I moved 10 times before I graduated from high school! I received a BBA in Marketing and Fashion Merchandising from Georgia Southern University in 1984 and a BS in Historical Studies and Social Studies Composite in 1989 from the University of Houston. I received my GT Certification through Rice University in 2001. I have been the Close Up Washington, D.C. Sponsor from 1993 to the present and take students to Washington, D.C. every January. I have received several honors and awards over the years, including the Senator E. Dirksen Congressional Fellowship, Texas Bar Asssociation's Law School for Teachers, a Supreme Court Fellowship through Street Law and Georgetown University, and a SCOTUS internship, attended the CSPAN Teachers Institute, and the Constitution Center's Rule of Law and Separation of Powers Programs in Philadelphia. I also serve as Alvin High School's registrar of voters. All of these have helped to make me a more knowledgeable and passionate teacher of Government and an advocate for civic education. I am thrilled to begin my 33rd year of teaching at Alvin High School. Jacket Pride Never Dies!
