     About Mrs. Pennington

Born and raised in Texas, I moved to the Houston area in seventh grade. My father travelled for a living when I was growing up, so I was fortunate to visit several states--23 to date. I love to travel and have a long Bucket List of places around the world I hope to visit and things I want to do. Amongst my other likes are cooking, music, movies, sunsets, the beach, Eiffel Towers, miniature snow globes, writing, Mexican food, and BOOKS! I graduated from Sam Rayburn High School in Pasadena then went on to the University of Houston Clear Lake for a BS in Management Information Systems and an AA in Business Administration. After working in corporate America for several years, I decided to share my passion for reading and writing and entered the world of education.

I am a wife and mom. My husband Shane is the Electrical Controls Specialist for a lighting distributor and plays bass in a blues/rock band. I also have two children. My son Jordan is 21. He graduated from high school in 2016, played baseball since he was four, and now is an assistant manager for Discount Tire. He is also engaged to his beautiful high school sweetheart! Elizabeth, my 17 year old daughter, is a senior this year. (Where did the time go? I can't believe my baby is a senior already!) She's a Yellowjacket, too, a dual credit student, and an active member of AHS's MCJROTC programs. We all love animals and have rescued and found homes for many over the years. Currently we have three dogs, a rabbit, and a bearded dragon.

In my spare time I experiment with recipes, listen to live music, and do some freelance writing. I would love to start my own catering business and hope to one day publish a book or two. This is my fourteenth year of teaching. For ten years I taught 7th and 8th grade reading and writing, and now I teach English II. I look forward to getting to know you and your families. It's going to be a great year!
