Child Nutrition Department
It is the mission of the Alvin Child Nutrition Department to provide nutritional meals offered in a friendly clean environment, that contribute to the body's ability to process the information necessary for students to lead meaningful and productive lives.
The Alvin ISD Child Nutrition Program is operated in accordance with the USDA's National School Lunch, Breakfast, Summer Feeding, and CACFP After School Feeding Program guidelines. Our Federal programs are administered by the Texas Department of Agriculture. Our 31 cafeterias and satellites must serve meals according to those guidelines in order to receive federal payments (reimbursements) on each meal served. By qualifying for reimbursements, we can offer reduced rates on meals that actually cost us over twice our meal prices. The Alvin ISD Child Nutrition program is a self-supporting department.
