Before joining the faculty at Alvin ISD, Mr. Soward served as the musical theatre director for Clear Brook High School and as the technical director for the nationally recognized program at Temple High School. As an actor, director, and writer, he has mounted professional productions all over Texas and served on the Board of Directors for the ITIS Theatre in Denton and Mosaic Theatre in Dallas.  For the Mosiac Theatre, Mr. Soward also served as the education outreach coordinator, working with high school programs throughout the Dallas area.

His master’s thesis at the University of North Texas explored funding methods and teaching pedagogy for successful fine arts programs throughout Texas.  This inspired Mr. Soward to earn his administrators certification and serve as an administrative intern for both Clear Creek ISD and Alvin ISD.  He is a 2014 graduate of Alvin ISD’s Leadership Academy and has served as the campus communications liaison on the design team for Manvel High School.  Mr. Soward has served as director for district convocation and the employee recognition ceremony in Alvin ISD and is presently developing the welcoming ceremony for the Texas Association of School Boards 2018 conference in Dallas.

He currently serves as the Chair for the Department of Fine Arts at Shadow Creek High School.
