Well now let's see, I gave up a job as a famous actress on Broadway to pursue my love of teaching!! Well, not really...BUT I do have a great purpose and passion for theatre, and teaching it to young minds alike! I graduated from Lamar University in May of 2001, and the offers to be a professional actress just were not pouring in, so there I was, penniless and unemployed, until I received a phone call from a local theatre teacher at West-Orange Stark High School looking for a Technical Director. At first I was apprehensive, but it took me all of one day to decide that teaching might just be my purpose. So I went to teach on an emergency certification with Orange ISD, and at the same time pursue my teaching certification through Lamar. After one year, I was able to obtain my certification and move on to teach at another high school. I went on to teach high school for seven years. After the birth of my first child in 2006, whose name is Jeneveve and she is a junior at Alvin High School and an Allstate Choir Member, I decided to teach junior high, and opened Fairview Junior High, where I taught for 3 years. My husband began his Army career and we were PCSed to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I chose to be a stay-at-home mother to our daughter, and be there for her when our hero deployed for a one-year tour to Afghanistan. When he returned, we remained at Fort Carson, and had a son, whose name is Dominic and he is a 3rd grader at Alvin Elementary, when my husband was then sent to serve a year in Korea. When he returned, we were PCSed to Joint Base Lewis-McChord in Washington state. As much as I loved being a stay-at-home mom because of the time I spent with my kids, there was still a big chunk of my life missing, and that was teaching theatre. On a whim, I looked on Alvin's website and saw that there was a position opened here at THE Alvin Junior High. Knowing my husband would be supportive, I made the bold choice to move back to Texas to pursue my passion for teaching once again. This will be my 7th year teaching at The Alvin Junior High, and 11th teaching for Alvin ISD. I am so happy to be back in the classroom with young minds willing to let all inhibitions go and learn about my purpose and passion for theatre!!! I am in grad school pursuing a Masters in Administration so that I may one day become a leader for Alvin ISD. I will graduate in December, so I am pretty busy between that, my daughter being on the snareline in the AHS Battery, and my son's adventures, but I LOVE my job! Please feel free to contact me via email or phone at anytime!
