Is a non-profit institution interested in promoting civic education. AHS has participated in the Close Up Washington, D.C. program since 1972. Close Up takes students from all over the United States to Washington, D.C. every year so that they can learn about their government "up close". Alvin High School has attended this program for 44 years. Due to the Covid-19 Pandemic, AHS will be attending the week of January 23, 2022.
