• History/Facts of Manvel High School

In 2003, Alvin ISD voters passed a bond election for the Phase I construction of Manvel High School.   After the 2003 bond election, a committee of Manvel parents, students, and teachers decided on “Mavericks” as the mascot. Although there are several definitions of a maverick, the school board approved a horse as the official mascot. The same committee decided on red, white, and blue with silver accent as the school colors.

In 2005, voters approved the Phase II expansion of Manvel High School. This included the initial construction and/or expansion of the auditorium, C100/200 wing, D100 wing, and athletics.   In December 2005, the AISD Board determined the high school attendance boundary to be County Road 99. As a result, the MHS attendance boundary encompasses 100+ square miles.

On August 9, 2006, MHS opened our doors. Nearly three years later on June 6, 2009, two hundred sixty seniors represented the 1stever graduating class from
    MHS.
