    Welcome to Advanced Academics

Hello!  My name is Kimberly Durkin and I am currently in my
16th year of teaching with Alvin ISD.
I taught 1st grade for 7 years and am now in my 9th year teaching as an

Advanced Academic Specialist for Walt Disney Elementary.

I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in

Elementary Education with a minor in Child Psychology

from Morningside College in Sioux City, IA.

I then moved to Maryland where I taught for 1 year before moving to Colorado.

In Colorado I taught for 2 years before finally moving to

Alvin, Texas where we now call home.

I have three wonderful children. Nicholas gradutated from U of H in the Spring of 2017 and is now employed with Reynolds and Reynolds as a Software Developer.  He and girlfriend of 8 yrs. just recently became engaged! We are so very proud of him!

Jena is a Junior at A&M studying Industrial Distribution and Will is in 5th grade.

They keep us busy visiting College Station and with all of Will's sports activities.

I love to spend my time with my family outside doing any type of activity or sport, but we truly enjoy being on the water or around the water with this terrible Texas heat.

I am truly blessed to have a wonderful husband, adorable intelligent children and a

career I deeply love and enjoy going to every day.
