• The mission of Special Olympics Texas is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities. The experience gives them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills, and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community. We approach each endeavor with a single intent – to improve the quality of life for our athletes. The challenges of the future are embraced with enthusiasm and commitment, ensuring that the changing face and needs of our athletes are met. We want the athletes to develop friendships and confidence as they complete in their favorite sports.

Alvin ISD offers our athletes three different sports to compete in: Bowling, Basketball, and Track and Field.

    1) You must be at least 8 years or older with a developmental or intellectual disability to participate in Special Olympics.

    2) You must have an Athlete release/Medical release form filled out by a doctor.

    3) Athletes must live within the Alvin Independent School District boundary
