Hello parents and students! My name is Karen Rebolledo and I am the Advanced Academics Specialist at Alvin Primary. It is with great pleasure that I introduce myself as your child’s Gifted and Talented teacher. I have worked in Alvin ISD since 2006, and I attended all Alvin schools; so it’s safe to say that I have been a part of Alvin ISD for the majority of my life.

I graduated from the University of Houston - Clear Lake in 2005 with a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting & Finance, and I received my Master's Degree in Bilingual Education in December of 2014. I obtained my alternative certification in education in 2007 and I received my Gifted and Talented certification from the State Board of Educator Certification (SBEC) in January of 2014.

As your child’s GT teacher, I will provide your gifted student with multiple differentiated materials which will allow him/her to purposefully expand ideas and engage in the exploration of issues and interests at his/her individual level and maximize his/her high potential. I will provide a wide variety of generalized strategies designed to develop thinking/feeling processes and operations based on student strengths, learning styles, and interests in order to enhance:

    ·        Critical and reflective thinking

    ·        Divergent and creative/productive thinking

    ·        Problem-solving and self-directed expanded inquiry

    ·        Positive self-concept, sense of individual commitment to self and a changing society

Alvin ISD is a wonderful district, and I am grateful to have the opportunity to pursue my passion in the district that opened so many doors for me. I look forward to meeting you and working together to grow successful learners.
