Expectations  We are learning the routines and procedures of Kindergarten. Ask your child about their day.  It may be helpful to discuss the difference between a "small problem" and a "big problem."  We will be modeling/practicing "right choice behaviors" at school.  All students will be expected to listen, follow directions and try their Kindergarten Best!  Please remind your child daily of their responsibility at school and check their folders daily.

    book
Scholastic Book Club  Each month we will send home a catalog to order Scholastic books. You can choose the books you want and then send me the order form and a check OR order online. It's easy! Go to Scholastic Book Order and create a free account using our class code (LN8XM). Then, browse the catalogs, choose books, and use your credit card to pay online. Each time a parent orders online, our class gets a free book. All orders usually come within 2 weeks.
    bell

Tardy The first school bell rings at 7:50. It is important for your child to be at school on time and start the day with their classmates. All kindergarten students meet in the aquatics commons area and are picked up at 7:50. Students are counted "tardy" after the 8:00 bell rings.  The office does keep track of these.

    excuse note

Absences  If your child will be absent for some or part of a school day, please send a written note and/or doctor's excuse in your child's folder. If you pick up your child early from school it is counted as a partial absence so bring a note if it should be excused.  All absences should be documented and none can be excused without a note. We cover lots of ground in school each day, and we don't want your child to miss it!

    birthday ladybug

Birthdays  On your child's birthday, you may send cupcakes or cookies to school and leave them in the office. They need to be store bought.  Some students bring juice boxes/capri suns as well.  This is all optional.  They will be delivered in the last hour of the day to the classroom for the class to enjoy. We are not permitted to have 'parties' or celebrations that take up instructional time.

    backpack

Backpacks  Please write your child's name inside the backpack. Have your child bring a backpack every day. Many days there will be projects or papers from the day's work to carry home.

    shirt

Change of Clothing  It is helpful if every child has a change of clothes in their backpack in case of restroom accidents or spills at lunch.

    lunch

Lunchtime  Our class will have lunch from ___________.  Students should turn in lunch money online or before school so the cafeteria manager has time to deposit it in your child's account. Please contact the cafeteria manager if you have any questions. Parents are welcome to join their child for lunch, but every visitor must sign in at the Office and wear a VISITORS badge.

    kids

Weather  Unless it is raining we will have recess everyday so please dress your child accordingly.   Sometimes our classroom gets chilly.  Feel free to send a light jacket/sweater for this reason.  I will ask the students to keep it in their cubbies unless they are wearing it.

    Lost and Found
Lost and Found If your child misplaces a jacket or lunch box feel free to write me a note or send an email, and I will search for it.  You may also check Lost and Found which is located in the Cafeteria just past the Cafeteria Restrooms.  There are clothing racks and big tubs which do fill up.  It's always a great idea to write your child's name on jackets and lunch boxes.
