    About Me:
Well now let's see, I gave a up a job as a famous actress on Broadway to pursue my love of teaching!! Well, not really...BUT I do have great purpose and passion for theatre and teaching it to young minds alike! I graduated from Lamar University in May of 2001 and the offers to be a professional actress just were not pouring in, so there I was, penniless and unemployed, until I received a phone call from a local theatre teacher at West-Orange Stark High School looking for a Technical Director. At first I was apprehensive, but it took me all of one day to decide that teaching just may be my purpose. So I went to teach on an emergency certification with Orange ISD, and at the same time pursue my teaching certification through Lamar. After one year I was able to obtain my certification and move on to teach at another high school. I went on to teach high school for seven years and decided that it just wasn't fulfilling my purpose and passion, so I went on to teach and open Fairview Junior High, where I taught for 3 years, upon which my husband began his Army career and we were PCSed to Fort Carson in Colorado Springs, Colorado. I chose to be a stay-at-home mother to our daughter, whom is currently in 5th grade in Alvin, and be there for her when our hero deployed for a one year tour to Afghanistan. When he returned we remained at Fort Carson, and had a son, whom is 2 now, at which time my husband was then sent to serve a year in Korea. When he returned we were PCSed to Joint Base Lewis-McChord. As much as I loved being a stay-at-home because of the time I got with my kids, there was still a big chunk of my life missing, and that was teaching theatre. On a whim I looked on Alvin's website and saw that there was a position opened here at Alvin Junior High. Knowing my husband is ready to round out his Army career, I made the bold choice to move my kids and I back to Texas to pursue my passion and begin to pursue my Master's Degree in Education and Principle. I am so happy to be back in the classroom with young minds willing to let all inhibitions go and learn about my purpose and passion of Theatre!!! Not only will I be taking a cast and crew to compete in UIL One Act, but it is my goal to see to it that every class I teach both semesters be given the opportunity to perform on stage, including a school wide musical production. Please feel free to contact me if you are interested in helping out our Mustang Theatre Company!!!
