• Reading is FUNdamental

    One of my favorite quotes about teaching reading comes from Richard Allington, "Kids not only need to read a lot but they need lots of books right at their fingertips. They also need books that entice them, attract them to reading."

     

    This is the reason for this reading campaign. We need a plethora of books for children to read. Simply stated, books that they CAN and WANT to read. We know so much about how reading builds background knowledge, vocabulary, and comprehension. All of this is vitally important to reading development.

     

    Please help me build our classroom library. With your support, I’ll be able to choose books that reflect the interests of every student in my class. Will you become a book sponsor? After all, Reading is what?  FUNdamental!

  • Epic Books

    This year we will use Epic Online Books as a class.  If you are not familiar with Epic, it is a fantastic resource.  You can access it on an Ipad or Laptop.  Some of the books will be read aloud to the student and others the student and parent (or sibling) can read them together.  There is an app for iOS/Android and/or a website.  Once they get on the app or website, it will ask them for a class code.  Our class code is:
