Credit By Examination
2022-2023 Credit by Examination without Prior Instruction [EHDC(LEGAL)-P]Students wishing to accelerate a grade level in elementary or middle school or one or more classes at the high school level may take a Credit by Examination (CBE) provided they have not received prior instruction in that grade level or course. If you are interested in taking a CBE, please visit your campus counselor and request a brochure and application. All CBE applications must be returned to the campus before the deadline set for each administration. A deposit of $25 per test is required to reserve the exam, which is fully refunded after the completion of testing. For students taking a K-12 Credit by Exam, exams are offered in October, February, June and July. 2022-2023 Grade Placement for Students enrolling in Grades 1-9 [FD(LOCAL)-X]
For students enrolling from private/homeschool who have received prior instruction:
Assessment for grade placement is a process available to students who are currently enrolled in the Alvin Independent School District. A child must be five years old or older by September 1st of the current year in order to be eligible to take the grade placement exams. The parent must complete and submit the application form for grade placement to their zoned campus office. A student may be assessed for grade placement only one time during any year.
Review of the Application and Results: A central committee comprised of a teacher, a campus administrator/counselor, and/or other campus staff will review the application form and all of the results to make recommendations for placement. All decisions are final.
