The Alvin ISD Board of Trustees is currently working with Mr. David Thompson, an education law attorney, and Dr. Mike Moses, former Commissioner of Education, to find the next Alvin ISD superintendent of schools. A timeline has been established and it is expected that a new superintendent will be named by early summer.
School Board President Nicole Tonini stated, “As we continue the search for our permanent superintendent, we will be conducting surveys and gathering community input in order to identify the profile of a candidate that would best serve our community.”
The Board then plans to enlist the help of community focus groups and other community outreach efforts that will lead to the development of a candidate profile. The application window closed on February 18, after which applications will be reviewed. Interviews are likely to occur through the month of March with a candidate being named as early as April, when the required 21 day waiting period would begin.
Until a new superintendent is named, Dr. Daniel Combs will serve as the interim superintendent of schools.
