Assistant Athletic Director & Head Football Coach/Quarterbacks
Brad Butler is Shadow Creek’s head football coach and an assistant athletic director for Alvin ISD. Coach Butler grew up in Brownwood, Texas. He graduated from Texas A&M University with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. He also has a master’s degree in Education Administration. This is his 23rd year coaching and his 13th year in Alvin ISD. He enjoyed coaching stops at Klein, Magnolia and Manvel before opening Shadow Creek in 2016. Coach Butler’s wife, Lisa, is a district administrator for Alvin ISD. They have three children: Duke is an 8th grader at NRJH, Juliet and Victoria are both graduates of Texas A&M and working on graduate degrees. Coach Butler attends New Hope Church and enjoys spending time with his family, the beach and fishing.
Assistant Head Coach/Offensive Line
Tyrone Green is the assistant head football coach/Jr. High liaison. Coach Green is a proud product of Tupelo, Mississippi. He graduated from the University of Houston in 2003 with a bachelor’s degree in Sociology. Coach Green was also member of the University of Houston football team as a full scholarship player. He holds a master’s degree in Education Administration from Stephen F. Austin University. Coach Green begins his 15th year in coaching with 12 years at Houston Lamar, one year at Manvel, and begins his third year at Shadow Creek. Coach Green’s significant other is Brittany Connally, who is a kindergarten teacher at Lockhart Elementary. Coach Green attends Good Hope Missionary Baptist Church and enjoys sports and watching movies.
Strength & Conditioning / Running Backs
Al James is the strength and conditioning coordinator and running backs coach for the Sharks. Coach James is originally from Tallahassee, Florida, where he played offensive line for Tallahassee Lincoln High School. Coach James received a scholarship to play football at the University of Houston and graduated with his bachelor's in 2004. Following that, Coach James became an assistant director of sport performance in the University of Houston athletic department for 8 years. From there, Coach James became the strength and conditioning coordinator and offensive line coach for Wharton High School for four years; he is starting his third year at Shadow Creek. He is a member at The Church Without Walls and has one daughter, Ebony. In his spare time, Coach James enjoys spending time with family and working out.
Offensive Coordinator / Wide Receivers
Rene Glapion is the offensive coordinator and wide receiver coach for the Sharks. Coach Glapion is originally from New Orleans, but moved to Houston, where he was raised. He played football at Houston Lamar High School. After high school, Coach Glapion attended the University of Houston and worked as a student assistant with the wide receivers. Upon earning his degree in Kinesiology, he began teaching and coaching at Lamar High School in 2010. This is his third season here at Shadow Creek. Coach Glap is married to Bianca, an accountant for C&J Energy. They had their first child, Carter, in February 2018. They are members at Windsor Village United Methodist Church. In his spare time he enjoys spending time with family and participating in anything related to sports.
Coach Woods is entering his third year at Shadow Creek. He was born in Naples, Florida, and moved to Houston when he was nine years old. Coach Woods was a stand out quarterback for three seasons at Lamar High School in Houston. He received a scholarship to the University of Houston to play football and graduated with a degree in Sports Administration. Coach Woods enjoys spending time with family and friends and taking care of his English bulldog named Biggie! Coach Woods also enjoys going to the movies, fishing, and eating out.
Coach Long will be working with the offensive line. He was born and raised in Huntsville, Texas, where he attended Huntsville High School. While in high school he played football, basketball, and track. This is Coach Long’s second year coaching for Shadow Creek. Prior to this year, he played football for Texas A&M University-Kingsville, where he earned a bachelor's degree in History and a master’s degree in Educational Administration. This summer, Coach Long got married to his wife Hailee.
Defensive Coordinator/Inside Linebackers
Raymond Garza is the Sharks’ defensive coordinator and inside linebackers coach. Coach Garza was born in Galveston and raised in Manvel. He played football, basketball, and ran track at Alvin High School. Coach Garza played football at Blinn Junior College and was a student-coach at Texas A&M University for three years. He graduated from Texas A&M University with bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology. This is his 12th year of teaching and coaching in Alvin ISD. Coach Garza is married to Emily, who is a nurse at Texas Children's Hospital. They have three children: Gunner, Garrett, and Gabby. Coach Garza attends New Hope Church and enjoys spending time with his family and fishing in his spare time.
Will Gulley is the safeties coach for the Sharks. Coach Gulley was born and raised in Newton, TX. He played football, basketball, and ran track for the Newton Eagles. Coach Gulley attended the University of Houston on a football scholarship and graduated with a bachelor’s degree in Kinesiology in 2006. This is his 10th year of teaching and coaching. He spent his first seven years at Katy Morton Ranch HS. This is his third year at Shadow Creek. Coach Gulley is married to Ashlee, who is the counselor at Wilder Elementary. They have two daughters, Jaydah and Jasmyn and will welcome their third child in November. In his spare time Coach Gulley enjoys sports and spending time with his family and friends.
Corners / Special Teams Coordinator
Coach Ramirez is going into his seventh year as a teacher/coach. This year is his third year as the corners coach and special teams coordinator for the Sharks. Coach Ramirez played football and graduated from Alvin High School. From there, Coach Ramirez earned his bachelor’s degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University while playing football. Coach Ramirez met his wife Jessica at OPSU, and the two have been married for six years. Jessica is a first grade teacher at Mary Marek Elementary. They have a two-year-old daughter and will welcome another daughter in September. The Ramirez family attends New Hope Church.
Strength & Conditioning / Outside Linebackers
Coach Bass is the outside linebackers coach for the Sharks and one of the strength and conditioning coordinators working with junior high and high school athletes. Coach Bass attended Alvin High School, where he lettered in football, track, and powerlifting. He then played football at the University of the Incarnate Word, where he earned both a bachelor's and master's degree. This is his fifth year teaching and coaching in Alvin ISD. Coach Bass’ wife Malarie is also from Alvin, where they still currently reside. They are members of the First United Methodist Church of Alvin. Coach Bass loves to hunt, fish and lift weights.
Coach Drones is entering his 17th year of coaching and his first year at Shadow Creek. He is from Galveston and a graduate of Ball High School. He graduated from Southwest Texas State University with a degree in Sociology. While there he met his wife, Olinka, whom he has been married to for 18 years. The couple has two children: Kyron (15) and Kyndall (12). Coach Drones enjoys spending time with family and friends and watching his children’s activities.
Coach Lane is in his fourth year of coaching. Coach Lane is the assistant defensive line coach. Prior to coaching, Coach Lane was in the United States Army. He earned his bachelor's degree from Oklahoma Panhandle State University while playing football. He earned a master’s in Sport Management from Texas A&M University.
Head Freshmen Coach
Gerald “Flash” Burns begins his 26th year of teaching and coaching - his first with the Sharks. He has been married for 19 years to Ashley, a counselor at Shadow Creek High School. The couple has two sons: Beau (16) and Garrison (13). Coach Burns graduated from Texas Tech University, where he earned a bachelor’s degree in Exercise Sport Science with a minor in History. Coach Burns is the Shadow Creek head freshmen football coach and assistant track coach. He teaches U. S. Government and P.E. Coach Burns attends New Hope Church and enjoys working out and spending time with family and friends.
Coach MacMillan is entering his second year of teaching and coaching freshman on the defensive side of the ball. He is originally from Pearland, where he played football and baseball at Pearland High School. He attended Texas State University and majored in Kinesiology with a minor in Sports Psychology. Coach MacMillan is married to Ali, a nurse at Dawson High School. They have two kids, Collins and River. He enjoys spending time with family, traveling, and being outdoors.
Coach Johnson is the freshmen offensive and defensive line coach. This is his 11th year in the profession and second at SCHS. He was born and raised in Arkansas, where he attended Greenland High School and was a three-sport athlete. Coach Johnson graduated with a B.A. in Spanish from the University of Arkansas where he met his wife, Alice, a chemical engineer for BASF. Coach and his wife have two children, Isabelle and Alexander. In his spare time, he enjoys golfing, traveling internationally, and watching his beloved Razorbacks.
Coach Lee is entering his ninth year of coaching and teaching, and first here at Shadow Creek. He will be coaching freshmen on the offensive side of the ball. He is originally from Pearland, where he played football and baseball at Pearland High School. He attended Texas State University and majored in Kinesiology with a minor in History. Coach Lee is engaged to Alexandra, a teacher at Sam Rayburn High School. He enjoys spending time with family, watching sports, and being outdoors.
