Music Memory teams are 5 competitors.
Music Memory is one of the hardest competitions in UIL. It involves listening to 16 pieces of music and being able to identify those pieces from a short aural excerpt. Students must know the title, composer, and portion of the piece they are hearing.
4th and 5th graders have to physically write out the composer, major work, and movement (if applicable). If you are not a good speller, Music Memory is NOT for you! Music Memory requires no spelling mistakes & no missed listenings on practice tests as well as on the competition test to receive points.
Elimination will be based on 8 pieces (half of the list). Failure to attend the elimination test is an automatic removal from Music Memory. The pieces will be provided on a cd for all the students who make the team. The highest scores will be taken to make the team. All others will be released.
