    NO REHEARSALS

  • Students and Parents,

This is our first full week of marching band rehearsals, with our first performance in 2 weeks at the Summer Creek game!

    MARCHING BAND REHEARSALS

School ends at 2:50pm, with most marching rehearsals starting at 4pm.  Suggestions for successful and safe rehearsals:

    • Students should change for after school activities as soon as possible after school, even before heading to tutorials or clubs.  This will make sure that you are prepared and on time for rehearsal.
    • Students should bring a snack, sunscreen, and a change of clothes for rehearsals every practice day.  Do not attempt to practice in your school clothes.
    • Fill your water jug with ice every morning and leave it by, in, or on your locker during school.  At the end of the day, you can fill it with water before going outside.
    • Eat breakfast and lunch!  Drink water during the day!  You will get sick outside, even in moderate weather, if you do not eat during the day.

    SHARK ATTACK!!!

Are you looking for a fun way to show your shark spirit as this school year kicks off? Participate in our Shark Attacks! For $20 you can have a shark attack placed in your front yard for 2-4 days. Looking for extra fun — attack a friend's yard! You can order attacks here.

    VOLUNTEERS

We're always looking for parent help, especially on performance days!  There are many, many ways to help with the band - if you're interested in finding out more about volunteer opportunities, email Daisy at volunteers@schsband.org.

    PRIVATE LESSONS

Private lessons are for any student who wants to achieve at a higher level than where they are now.  Whether you're an experienced All-State Band member or a younger player just trying to figure things out, you need lessons to get the most out of your band experience!  If you're interested in private lessons, fill out this form or contact Mr. Mooney at jmooney@alvinisd.net

As always, please let us know if you have any questions.

    Thank you,

    Josh Mooney
