    about me

    Hey Warriors!
My name is Holly Rains, and I am beginning my 16th year as a school nurse for Alvin ISD. This is my 6th year as a Warrior here at Manvel Junior High.

    Nursing Experience:
I started my nursing career after changing paths during my 3rd year of a Marine Biology degree at Texas A&M Galveston. I graduated from Galveston College in May of 1996 and immediately started working at UTMB. I lucked into a position on the Gyn-Oncology floor and quicly fell in love with Oncology.

    Working in Alvin ISD:
I spent almost a decade in oncology before switching to school nursing. I opened Wilder Elementary in 2007 and the staff and administrative team there solidified for me that I had made the right decision in switching. I also worked at Mary Marek Elementary before joining the wonderful Warrior team here at MJH!

    Family:
I am married with two children. My daughter, Mina, is 25 and out living her best life and our son, Garrett, is 16. We live here in Manvel and have 2 shelter kitties, Stella and Luna.

    Hobbies:
For fun, I like to stitch, spend time on and in the water, cook and care for all my plants.

Our Warrior's health and well being, both mental and physical, is my top priority. My goal is to help keep our students safe, secure and healthy while they are here at school. That includes helping our parents, as well. So, if you need help or have a question or concern, please let me know!
