I am excited to be teaching second-grade in ALL subjects for the 2020-2021 school year!

Hello, my name is Liz Stevens, and I am excited and feel privileged to be your child’s second-grade teacher. This will be my  15th year teaching at Mary Marek Elementary. I graduated with honors from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a certification in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-4). In addition, I attained a Master of Science in Reading with EC-12 Reading Specialist Standard Certification. I am certified to teach GT (gifted and talented) and English Language Learners.

I live on an eight-acre farm/ranch in Alvin that keeps me very busy. Especially important to me are my two young adult children and grandson starting seventh-grade at Nolan Ryan Junior High. Currently, we have two doggies, a two-year-old Malamute/German Shephard (98 lbs.) and an older Daschund. Growing an array of vegetables and herbs in my 1600 sq. ft. garden, as well as a small fruit orchard, is my passion. I learned to garden from my loving grandmother at the age of three.

My favorite hobbies: gardening ( canning cucumbers to pickles and tomatoes into pasta sauce), Hot Yoga, horseback riding, baseball (GO STROS!), and reading under my 150-year-old Oak tree!
