                                                                                                                     Welcome!
I am excited to be teaching second-grade in ALL subjects for the 2022-2023 school year!

Hello, my name is Liz Stevens, and I am excited and feel privileged to be your child’s second-grade teacher. This will be my  17th year teaching at Mary Marek Elementary. I have taught 2nd, 3rd, and 4th grade during my teaching career. I graduated with honors from the University of Houston-Clear Lake with a B.S. degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and a certification in Early Childhood Education (Pre-K-4). In addition, I attained a Master of Science in Reading with EC-12 Reading Specialist Standard Certification. I am certified to teach GT (gifted and talented) and English Language Learners.

I live on an eight-acre farm/ranch in Alvin that keeps me very busy. Especially important to me are my two young adult children and grandson starting ninth grade at Shadow Creek High School. My passion is gardening in my 1600 sq.ft. vegetable garden. I learned to garden from my loving grandmother at the age of three.

My favorite hobbies: gardening ( canning cucumbers to pickles and tomatoes into pasta sauce), Yoga, horseback riding, baseball (GO STROS!), and reading under my 150-year-old Oak tree!
