Mr. Sananikone

About Me:

I'm the third child of a Thai mother and a Laotian father. You may know child number 4... Mrs. Hopson, a 2nd Grade teacher at Marek. Different parts of my life have been spent in different parts of the world. I was born in Dallas (TX), raised in the Parisian (FR) countryside (but educated in a British School system), attended one year of middle school in Clear Lake City (TX), high school in Gainesville (GA), college in Houston (TX), and spent a couple of years in San Francisco (CA), before finding my way back home to Houston, TX.

In June of 2019, I married my wife, who was a Speech Language Pathologist at a Houston hospital.

My professional background includes teaching Kindergarten in San Francisco for a year and a half before coming to Marek, where I taught 2nd Grade. After 2 years at Marek, I transferred to York ES for one year of 2nd Grade. I then transitioned to work in the oilfield, where I worked as an offshore laborer and eventually as shore-based corporate support. After four years, it was time to come back to my home and rejoin my Marek Family. This will be my fourth year teaching 4th Grade Math and my fifth year teaching 4th Grade Science.

Some of my hobbies (in no particular order) include: woodworking, working on my house (including home automation), playing disc golf, swimming, playing XBOX, playing drums, trying to play guitar, exploring cultural food, and roaming around the great city of Houston!

I'm grateful to have experienced so many cultures that have in turn shaped and molded who I am today and undoubtedly affected how I teach and build appropriate relationships with the Marek body.
