Welcome to 2nd grade! I am so happy to have the opportunity to work with the scholars of Savannah Lakes Elementary! As an educator of 14 years, I come with a strong desire to promote student success, achievement, and overall performance. Implementation of this happens through using best practices, encouraging learner engagement, and the ability to establish positive relationships with all learners.
I am a native Houstonian and attended school in the Fort Bend Independent School District. Upon graduating from the University of Houston with a degree in Interdisciplinary Studies, began my teaching journey in Alief ISD in 1999. I have successfully taught grades 3, 4, and 5. In addition to being a classroom teacher, I worked as a reading interventionist for several years in efforts to support struggling readers.
My philosophy is simple and has never changed since I began teaching. This philosophy is to always do what is best for children. In planning, meeting, and collaborating with teammates, my sole focus is student success. My daily itinerary includes established routines, exciting whole group mini lessons, small group instruction, as well as prescribed intervention lessons. Data is also a huge contributing factor to ensure student success. Having the ability to use data to drive instruction benefits not only the child, but also my instruction. It also helps me recognize and examine areas that need to be revisited to ensure student achievement.
I am a new resident to the Alvin/Manvel area. When I am not at school, I enjoy family time with my husband Courtney and our two children CJ and Kennedy. Some of my favorite past time activities include attending my children's sporting events, gardening, working out, and playing with our adorable yorkshire terrier Zoey.
